Introduction

FFGS acts as a 'think & do tank'. We initiate and coordinate research and project development activities in the field of sustainability. Our in-house team selects, mandates and coordinates high quality partners. Our task is to identify the right topics, work with the right partners, and deliver tangible and practical results.

FFGS thereby takes the following underlying approach:

• Activities must foster sustainable development as per FFGS’s own definition and statutes. It goes beyond the known Brundtland definition and specifically targets a 50/50 sharing of biologically productive surface area between humans and all other species.
• FFGS applies a clear activity focus. This includes the three areas of (1) measurement & policy, (2) finance, and (3) awareness & cooperation. Topics and activity types are selected on the basis of where we can optimally leverage our background, network and know how - and thus maximize the advantageous impact on sustainable development.
• All activities are based on a systematic analysis of ongoing developments, policies and trends - according to the FFGS analysis framework for sustainable development. There are six key sustainability-themes. Each theme has various sub-categories and offers background information on the topic, links to other themes, links to common industry classifications, etc.
