Mission & Approach

FFGS is an independent, not-for-profit foundation based in Zurich, Switzerland. FFGS was founded in 2007 by private Swiss individuals and is fully registered and tax exempt (see Registration & Legal).

Our mission is to foster sustainable global development. Our motivation derives from the conviction that human society needs to go through a paradigm shift with respect to its development path. The fast growing world population, combined with rapidly rising standards of living (consumption), have also given rise to trends that the planet can no longer bear: depletion of natural resources, carbon-induced climate change, loss in biodiversity, etc. Everyone needs to act. Our development model must transit from 'industrial' to 'sustainable'. To achieve this, both regulatory frameworks and voluntary measures are required.

FFGS strives to achieve our mission through focused research partnerships and tangible project initiatives – whereby we take the role of initiator and project manager, linking relevant project partners from the private and public sector.
